About our Instructor:

Don FoxDon Fox

Born and raised in deep South Texas, Don studied chemical engineering at MIT and Cornell where he researched renewable energy systems. Don was attracted to data science because it is an interdisciplinary field that combines math, statistics, and computer science to derive insights of processes using data. He enjoys puns, wearing ties, cardigans, and everything fall.

We’re back again with a new data demo to teach you some fundamental skills you can utilize on your journey as a data scientist (or data engineer). Join us on Thursday, August 25th to pick up a new skill with TDI instructor Don Fox.

Maybe you’ve heard the term Web APIs in your research, but for those just starting out, Web APIs are a way of communicating and obtaining data from web-based services. In data science, it’s common for Web APIs to interface with these applications when building data-based applications – it’s a crucial skill to have as a data scientist.

In our newest data demo, Don Fox will show you the basics and you’ll learn:

• What Web APIs are
• How to communicate with Web APIs in Python
• Use GitHub’s REST API to determine common licenses used for Python based projects

You don’t want to miss this!
